Wapice grown over 25 %

Thursday, 24 November 2011 14:19

Wapice Oy has grown over 25 % in 2011, compared to last year. It seems that industrial companies have an increasing need for software; they concentrate more and more on their core competence and outsource software development to partners and subcontractors. Wapice has recruited almost 50 new employees in 2011. Although the Wapice organization has changed a lot in ten years, the criteria for recruitment have not changed: the employee needs good skills in programming as well as cooperation skills.

MIMOSA and OPC UA Applied in Wapice Remote Management System

Friday, 25 March 2011 11:53

mimosa_and_opc_ua_and_wrmWapice presented a seminar paper "MIMOSA and OPC UA Applied in Wapice Remote Management System" at the Automaatio XIX seminar 2011 held in Crowne Plaza Hotel Helsinki on March 13-15 2011.

The paper presents our experiences on implementing a remote monitoring solution utilizing OPC UA and some characteristics of the MIMOSA standards. In performance critical systems, OPC UA was found a suitable solution for transferring automation and control boundary data to higher levels in a structured manner. It was found that the placement of data processing logic is essential for well performing distributed system. Distribution was also found beneficial when business critical data processing algorithms were provided by 3rd parties.

Automaatio XIX seminar is the major domestic forum for presenting notable results from research, drawing attention to commercial products, systems, and services, exchanging real-life experiences, and – very importantly – bringing together automation professionals, as has been the tradition every two years.
