Wapice sets up LoRa network in 7 Finnish cities

Wapice pushes the deployment of LoRa networks in Finland to a new level utilizing its Internet of Things platform IoT-Ticket®. This deployment, which covers 7 major cities will enable new application areas such as smart cities, smart parking, air pollution monitoring, chemical leakage detection, traffic congestion monitoring, smart lighting, waste management, supply chain control, water quality monitoring, smart agriculture and many more.

LoRa is a long range, low power communication method which offers up to 21km device connectivity and is seen as a key enabler for deploying Internet of Things applications. IoT-Ticket is one of the most advanced Internet of Things platforms which focuses on ease of use and fast content creation for end-users. The cities where Wapice will deploy the LoRa networks are: Helsinki, Tampere, Vaasa, Hyvinkää, Seinäjoki, Oulu and Jyväskylä.

“With this deployment we reach a significant amount of Finland’s population and will be able to create a wide range of new applications together with our customers”, explains Pasi Tuominen, CEO of Wapice. He further emphasizes that “with IoT-Ticket as the Internet of Things platform the time-to-market of new applications and business models is significantly reduced as everything is ready for immediate use.”
